Clearing & Warming Into Washington’s Birthday
Temperatures will rise throughout the holiday-shortened workweek before a rainmaking system arrives by Friday.
Blue skies are finally starting to show themselves after clouds have dominated much of our holiday weekend. While clearer skies will lead to another frigid night, they will also bring warmer temperatures for our Presidents’ Day afternoon. Highs will reach well into the 50s on Monday after struggling to get out of the 40s across the Piedmont this Sunday. Winds will shift out of a more southerly direction by Tuesday, only allowing highs to rise throughout the holiday-shortened workweek. Expect afternoon temperatures to crack 60º by midweek before getting even warmer into Thursday and Friday.
The rain will remain at bay through Thursday, but another disturbance arrives from the northwest by Friday. The incoming system doesn’t look particularly impressive at the moment, but will still bring scattered showers to the Carolinas by Friday afternoon. Rain totals will likely end up under a half-inch for most communities. Slightly cooler air filters in by the coming weekend, but highs appear to hold firm near 60º.
