CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have brought back defensive end Wes Horton and waived Wide Receiver Damiere Byrd.

Horton appeared in 34 games with the Panthers over the last three seasons. He totaled six sacks and 41 tackles. He was one of the final roster cuts before the regular season.
The team is looking to apply more pressure to opposing quarterbacks and Carolina also likes how Horton plays the run.
He was signed to a one-year contract.
Byrd had not been active in the first five games of the season, but was impressive in the preseason. He was on the Panthers practice squad in 2015.
