CHARLOTTE, NC — NFL ratings are in a slump and everyone has a theory why.
There’s been an 11% drop in the past six weeks compared to previous seasons.
The Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts game this past Sunday was the worst ratings for the NFL in nearly 5 years.
A new survey by Yahoo! Sports questioned 1,136 Americans who called themselves football fans. It says 29% of football fans say they’re watching fewer games this season. Among that group – 40% say it’s because of the National Anthem protests, and the following:
– Protests by Colin Kaepernick and others
– Lack of opportunity to watch the NFL
– Lost interest in the NFL
– Presidential election
– Lack of opportunity to watch the NFL

– Presidential election
Meanwhile, a Sports Illustrated opinion article says the ratings drop is because of concussion controversy, the crackdown on celebrations, too many poor referee calls and bad match-ups along with the protests.
