Camper Explosion Injures Two In Gaston County
GASTON COUNTY, N.C. β A man and a woman were hurt when an explosion ripped through a camper just after 10 p.m. on a property on Ferrell Grove Road north of McAdenville Monday night.
GEMS transported both individuals to CaroMont Regional Medical Center with burn injuries. The female was released Monday morning, while the male was transferred to Atrium Wake Forest Baptistβs Burn Center with second- and third-degree burns to the face and head.
The Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services investigated the fire, determining the cause of the explosion to be a propane leak from a hot water heater. In addition to the significant damage to the camper, the explosion blew out windows and caused some additional damage to the house next to the camper.
Community Fire Department, Belmont FD, East Gaston FD, Cramerton FD, GCOEMFS, GEMS, Gaston County Police, Belmont Police and the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal all responded to the scene.
