Gas Prices On The Rise This Spring

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – AAA has a warning for drivers that you will likely be paying more for gas this spring.

According to a spokesperson, the early spring surge in oil prices was likely caused by Ukraine’s targeting of Russia’s oil infrastructure.

Gas prices will now likely resume their usual slow and steady seasonal increase with spring break and summer vacations ahead.

While a lower demand usually helps push gas prices lower, AAA says they remain elevated as a result of rising oil prices.

Gas prices are down in the Charlotte area with regulars averaging $3.27 per gallon. That marks four cents less than the previous week.

Statewide average is slightly higher at $3.26 per gallon.

South Carolina drivers are paying a little bit less, as a gallon of gas will cost $3.20.
