Six People Arrested In Connection With A Stolen Vehicle

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has arrested and charged six suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle Tuesday.

Police say the victim’s vehicle was stolen overnight from his home on Monroe Road. The victim told officers that the vehicle had been left unlocked, but he still had the keys.

Investigators were able to establish 19-year-old Emanuel Escobar as their primary suspect. According to reports, Escobar was previously fitted with an electronic monitor which allowed officers to track his location. Officials found Escobar in the Arboretum area, along with the stolen vehicle and five other people inside.

Escobar and the other suspects attempted to escape police by ditching the car and taking off on foot, but were unsuccessful due to Escobar’s tracker. Officers caught up with the suspects on Wynyates Lane and took them all into custody. The stolen vehicle was found a short time later, according to officials, on Happy Valley Drive.

All six suspects, including Keiondre Henderson, 16, Elias Octaviano, 17, Darnell Alcala, 16, Emanuel Escobar, 19, Rony Portillo, 21, and a 15-year-old male juvenile, have been charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.  Escobar, Henderson and the 15-year-old juvenile were also charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
