Kangaroo Express Robbery Suspect Arrested In Mooresville

UPDATE: Police say they have arrested Robert Campbell after he was caught trying to rob another Kangaroo Express on S. Main Street around 4:30pm Tuesday.

Officers say Campbell assaulted a female clerk after he tried to rob a customer inside the store this afternoon. The clerk was calling 911 when Campbell attacked, but he was quickly taken down and held by several customers until officers could arrive.

Campbell is now being charged with Common Law Robbery and Assault on a Female.

Officials say an arrest warrant for Robert Campbell II, 41, has been issued for Common Law Robbery. According to reports, Campbell entered the N. Main Street Kangaroo Express around 9pm Monday, and asked the clerk if he could borrow money from the register. After the clerk denied his request and opened the drawer while helping another customer, Campbell reached across and grabbed about $30. He then took off in a silver Ford Explorer.
