Concord Man Sentenced For Hate Crimes

CONCORD, N.C. – A North Carolina man was sentenced to 41 months in prison on federal hate crime charges in two separate incidents about a year apart.

In November 2021, Marian Hudak, 52, yelled racial insults to his Hispanic next-door neighbor. Just after, Hudak punched and tackled him, inflicting serious bodily injury to the Hispanic man.

Then on October 13th, 2022, Hudak shouted racial slurs and said “come here, boy” to a Black man he never met before on a public road while driving in Concord. They said he also punched the Black man’s car window multiple times. Hudak proceeded to chase after the man to his home where he continued to shout racial slurs.

Officials said witnesses testified Hudak kept a Ku Klux Klan flag, a racist publication and Nazi memorabilia at his home. He also frequently made derogatory comments on social media about Hispanic people and his neighbor’s family.

Hudak was indicted on January 11th. He will also have three years of supervised release after his sentence.
