Trail Camera Catches Thieves Stealing Lumber From Construction Site
LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Two people are facing charges for larceny after deputies said they stole approximately $1,500 worth of lumber from a home construction site, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday, May 16th, deputies received information about a white truck stealing lumber from a home under construction on Null Road near Lincolnton on two separate occasions earlier in the week. Photos from a trail camera at the developing home helped deputies identify markings on the truck.
Later that day, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 loaded with lumber on Hatchette Road. They obtained a search warrant for a property on Hatchette Road and said they recovered 110 pieces of lumber from the two thefts. Police said the lumber is worth $1,500.
William Christopher Goins, 48, and Kimberly Bivens, 49, were questioned about the thefts before being charged with felony larceny. Bivens also received a charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center. Goins didn’t receive a bond, as he was served an outstanding warrant for failure to appear.
Bivens received a $5,500 secured bond.
