IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he fired shots at a neighbor for playing music and setting off fireworks, according to a news release.
The release states that on May 25, deputies responded to a call of neighbors arguing and shots being fired and were told that 65-year-old Richard Lemons was the person firing shots. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies say found Lemons with a handgun and ordered him to drop the weapon and surrender, which he did without further incident.
After a brief investigation, it was determined that Lemons started arguing with the neighbors for playing music and setting off fireworks and fired shots at the people outside of the home, as said in the release.
It was also noted in the release that a person attempted to de-escalate the situation, but resulted in Lemons firing shots at the person. Nobody was seriously injured in the incident.
Lemons was arrested and charged with six counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and six counts of misdemeanor communicating threats.
