Local Veterans Receive Refurbished Rides
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two U.S. Army veterans had their lives changed forever, just outside of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Ehab Elmenshawi and Ramir Maldonado wer both given Toyota Camrys as a part of a special veterans celebration hosted by the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program.
May is military appreciation month, and just before Memorial Day weekend, the communities they served wanted to give back to the two veterans.
Ehab enlisted in the u.s. army in 2003 and deployed during operation Iraqi freedom. He is one hundred percent disabled from his service and has frequent medical appointments.
He and his wife are also expecting their first child. This gift will allow Ehab to care for his growing family.
“I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The things they are doing, honestly, it’s an honorable thing,” said Elmenshawi. “Just as honorable as serving this country, you know? So just having that, it just makes you feel like you’ve not been forgotten.”
