CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD rescued 14 pit bulls from a northeast Charlotte home.  Animal Control says the dogs were very thin and had no shelter or water.  Their owner, Samuel Mobley, is charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty.

Officers say a dozen dogs were tethered in ways that violated the city ordinance.  A search warrant shows Animal Control officers have been called to the property more than 25 times.  Neighbors showed us where they say pit bulls chewed through a fence.

One woman told us one of the dogs attacked her dog.  “I walked by his house one day,” said west Charlotte resident Kianna Balla, “and his garage was wide open and there must have been like sixteen cages just empty, or there had been had dogs in them in the garage and… I went home right after that.”

CMPD says Mobley has also racked up more than $6,000 in fines over the years for things like missing rabies vaccinations and nuisance calls.  The dogs are currently being cared for at the Animal Control shelter.
