ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police say two South Pointe High Schools students are accused of plotting a robbery and murder.
Investigators say they were called to the school on Neely Road on December 16th to conduct an investigation into an off-campus incident unrelated to the school.
During the course of the investigation, information was reportedly acquired that there was a vehicle parked on campus that contained several weapons.
The school’s administrative team located several weapons inside a car parked in the student parking lot. The person who drove the vehicle to school was identified as 18-year-old Demarion McCrorey. He was charged with simple possession of marijuana and possession of weapons on school grounds.
After McCrorey’s arrest, police say the investigation continued and detectives determined that McCrorey had an assault rifle on the Northwestern High School campus on December 1st during a basketball game.
McCrorey was also charged for having a weapon on school grounds for that case.
Further investigation determined that McCrorey and a co-defendant Brandon Scruggs, and another defendant who has not been arrested at this time conspired to burglarize the Van Wyck Sporting Goods gun shop and then rob and murder an individual they knew in Rock Hill.
McCrorey and Scruggs have both been charged with two counts of criminal conspiracy in that case.
McCrorey’s bond was set at $70,000 and Scruggs bond was set at $5,000.
