Messy Start to Workweek
Cloudy skies and multiple rounds of rain will keep temperatures below normal on Monday, but highs quickly rise well into the 90s by the end of the week.
Mostly cloudy skies have welcomed us into July’s home stretch, but rain chances have notably remained at bay this weekend. Unfortunately, weather befitting for a Monday arrives to kick off the workweek as scattered showers arrive from the west overnight. Expect wet roads to be an issue for your morning commute, but the most impactful weather pushes in during the afternoon. While the overall severe threat is low, gusty winds and localized flooding will be something to watch later in the day. Mostly cloudy skies and multiple rounds of rain will keep temperatures in the 70s and 80s on Monday, but highs go on the rise from there.
Scattered storms will get going again Tuesday afternoon, but shouldn’t be as widespread as Monday’s rain. If highs around the Metro don’t crack 90º on Tuesday, they certainly will on Wednesday as a drier pattern sets up shop midweek. While a few afternoon showers and storms are possible, most communities will remain rain-free on Wednesday and Thursday. Highs will quickly soar into the mid-to-upper 90s as we transition into August. The first weekend of the new month is trending hot and humid with scattered afternoon storms.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to tracking a budding area of low pressure east of the Caribbean, which has a 40% chance of developing into Tropical Storm Debby over the next seven days. The fledgling storm still has a long way to go before reaching land, but we’ll want to watch this system closely as it treks westward. Roughly 75% of all named storms in the Atlantic form in August or later.
