Second Man Charged With N. Tryon Business Owner’s Murder

UPDATE: Police have charged Shalome Scott with murder and armed robbery in this case.  Scott is the second suspect to be charged with the murder of Massaquoi Kotay.

CHARLOTTE, NC– Tips from the public helped police make an arrest in the murder of a Charlotte business owner who was shot in his own store on Thursday.

Officers arrested Desmond Black on Friday. He’s charged with murder and armed robbery.

Investigators say black shot 45-year-old Massaquoi Kotay inside Mina African Mart off North Tryon street just after two Thursday afternoon.

Detectives are looking for at least one other suspect in this case.
