CMPD Investigating String of Fast Food Robberies Across City
CHARLOTTE, NC – Police need help identifying two men suspected in a series of brazen armed robberies.
The pair is holding up mostly fast food restaurants, robbing employees at gunpoint.
Seven Charlotte restaurants and an auto parts store were hit in the past week.
The robberies are happening all across the city, mostly at night or early in the morning.
Police believe two men are responsible for at least half of those.
The most recent happened around 9:00pm Sunday at a Jack in the Box on Westinghouse Boulevard.
“A place that’s supposed to be a safe environment, like a restaurant, it makes (it) not even feel safe anymore,” says West Charlotte resident Emani Caldwell.
So far no one has been hurt, but police say they’re worried that could change.
“We’re all people’s brothers, mothers, sisters, kids, I mean, it’s just not cool to rob,” says East Charlotte resident Kelsee Moore.
Police say if you’re confronted by a robber, always comply with their demands.
“Your money is replaceable, your life isn’t. So it’s important that if you’re in that type of situation, that you don’t try and respond in some type of heroic fashion,” explains Capt. Cecil Brisbon, with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police also say the suspects may be responsible for other robberies outside of Mecklenburg County.
