Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop University has suspended the head women’s basketball coach due to a personnel matter according to the Winthrop Athletic Department.
In a release, Athletic Director Jack Frost stated Head Coach Kevin Cook has been suspended, and Assistant Coach Lynette Woodard will serve as head coach in his absence.
Cook, in his fifth season with the Lady Eagles, has led Winthrop to their first ever NCAA appearance and first Big South Conference Championship. He was previously the Head Coach of the WNBA’s Houston Comets.
Winthrop’s next game is Friday night against Liberty. The Lady Eagles are currently 2-17.
