DMV Adds New Options To Self-Service Kiosks
CHARLOTTE – New services can now be accessed at the NCDMV self-service kiosks located at three different grocery stores across the state.
At first, people using the kiosks could only renew their drivers license. Now, users can now pay property taxes on their vehicles andΒ Β renew vehicle registrations.
This moving coming from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to try and reduce foot traffic at the DMV, as well as provide services outside of typical office hours.
Maurice Miller waited at the DMV for seven hours on Wednesday.
“It’s very frustrating when you just here to renew your license for something simple and still got to wait that long,” he says.
DMV communications manager Marty Homan says that these new services will be available at the three different kiosks. Those kiosks are located in grocery stores, one in Raleigh, Fayetteville, and a third in Charlotte.
According to the NCDOT DMV page, customers are able to:
- Renew driver license/state ID and print Temporary Driver/Identification Certificateβ
- βOrder duplicate driver license, permit and state ID, change address, and print Temporary Driver/Identification Certificate
- Register to vote
- Renew vehicle registration and print license plate sticker and registration card
- βPay property tax on a new vehicle and print license plate sticker and registration card
Homan says that new kiosks will be announced in the next few weeks. He said that three more will be placed across the Charlotte area.
