CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged a 40-year-old woman with breaking into four homes in southeast Charlotte Tuesday morning.
Officials say Lisa Swinson broke into two homes on Valley Haven Drive between 10:30am and 10:45am. No one was was home at the time, according to officials, but officers responded to alarms set off during the break-ins. The next break-in happened around 11:30am on Summerhill Drive. According to police, a caller reported someone breaking into the home and gave a description of the suspect and vehicle.
Police matched the descriptions to Lisa Swinson, and stopped her near Independence Boulevard and Wallace Road. Officers searched Swinson’s vehicle, according to reports, and found several stolen items inside. Swinson was arrested on scene.
During their investigation, detectives say a purse found inside Swinson’s vehicle led them to a fourth victim. Officials say Swinson had broken into an elderly woman’s home on Thermal Road while she was reportedly helping the victim corral her dog that had gotten loose. The victim told police that she had no idea Swinson had entered her home.
Several other stolen items found inside her vehicle also linked Swinson to two vehicle break-ins back in June and July of 2016, according to reports.
Swinson is being charged with four counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, four counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and served three unrelated warrants.
Detectives say an investigation is ongoing and more charges will be filed.
