One Killed In Industrial Accident

CALDWELL COUNTY, NC — We know the name of a man killed in an accident at a lumber yard in Caldwell County. Β Investigators say a forklift ran over 55-year-old Steven Doglas. Β They believe he was driving it at the time.
The accident happened Monday afternoon at Jordan-Holman Lumber Company in Granite Falls. Β Nobody saw what happened. Β Another employee found Doglas and called 911.
“It’s the first industrial accident we’ve had to work like this, and it’s tough on a small community when so many people know the person they worked with for 30 years,” said Granite Falls Police Chief Ritch Bolick.
The State Occupational Safety and Health Division is looking into the accident. Β The investigation could take up to six months. Β A state inspection at the plant in 2010 did not find any safety violations.
