Police: Student Brings Unloaded Firearm To Middle School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 13-year-old Kennedy Middle School student was taken into custody after brandishing a firearm to a student on a school bus, according to CMPD.

CMPD states on September 24, the Kennedy Middle School Resource Officer was notified of a student carrying a firearm in his backpack.

The SRO says he found the student and separated him from the firearm before the juvenile was taken into custody after additional officers responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation states the firearm was taken from a gun box at home that was secured with a gun lock.
