ROCK HILL, SC — A 54-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car in York County Tuesday night.
Troopers say John Carpenter was walking with his back to traffic along Highway 21 near Galleria Drive around 10:15pm when he was hit from behind by Taylor Cratty, 18. Officials say Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to reports, and Cratty was not injured.
Highway patrol has not released any other details, but do say no charges will be filed against Cratty.
