CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Health Department is holding a news conference at 11:30am to discuss why dozens of women who had abnormal pap smear tests were not contacted.
The topic was discussed at the Mecklenburg County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday.
The following stats were given as an update during the meeting by Health Director Marcus Plescia:
- 185 abnormal tests did not have any follow up
- 110 women need a repeat test in one year (all these women have been notified)
- 75 women need to be referred for a colposcopy (55 have been scheduled over the next two weeks but health officials were unable to reach 20 women)
