CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Join the CMPD Sexual Assault Unit for their 2nd Annual 5k Run and Zumba Event, bringing awareness to sexual assault.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, at 10:15 a.m, at the Greenville Recreation Center, located at 1330 Spring Street in Charlotte. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
“Every 98 seconds, a person experiences some type of sexual assault. Sexual violence affects hundreds of thousands of Americans each year. In most cases rapes are often not reported out of fear and shame. The effects of sexual assaults can be difficult to deal with so we ask you to come and show that you stand up against sexual assault violence,” says CMPD.
April is sexual assault awareness month, so wear teal and come support the CMPD as they spread a message of prevention to the community.
