HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Officials say a lightning strike may have caused the fire that broke out in an attic Tuesday night.

The fire happened around 9:15pm, according to officials, at a home on Latta Spring Circle when severe thunderstorms started rolling through the area. The family of four told Huntersville Fire crews that they heard a loud boom, and then saw flames in the attic.

It took crews about 30 minutes to get the flames under control. Officials say no one was injured during the fire.
