CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Forsyth County man has been sentenced to over eight years in prison for his role in a marijuana trafficking operation.
On Thursday, March 23, Dorian Dent Williams, 25, of Kernersville, N.C., was charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana through the U.S. mail and postal robbery charges.
U.S. District Judge Frank D. Whitney sentenced Williams to 100 months in prison and three years of court supervision upon his release.
According to reports, Williams shipped over 144 kilos of marijuana from Arizona to North Carolina using the postal service. People were paid to receive the packages containing marijuana at residential addresses in Charlotte and High Point, N.C.
On January 9, 2016, in Charlotte, Williams and another male, who was brandishing a firearm, robbed a postal worker who refused to hand over two packages containing marijuana, addressed to a home on his route.
Williams is in the custody of the United States Marshals Service after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute marijuana, and one count of postal robbery in October 2016. He is pending placement by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
