CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD says their Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested a 17-year-old in connection to the shooting death of 22-year-old Derrick Baker in north Charlotte.
The shooting happened on Thursday, October 3rd shortly before 10pm on Tom Hunter Road. Police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call when they found Baker suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a news release.
Shortly after, officers received another assault with a deadly weapon call on N. Tryon Street where they located a second person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim in this shooting was identified as a juvenile. That victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Just before 11:30pm, a third victim arrived at a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries related to a shooting. Detectives are working to determine the relationship between the three victims, according to a news release.
