Man Found Guilty Of Killing Fiancée In 2013 Gets Life In Prison

CHARLOTTE, NC — A man found guilty of killing his fiancée in 2013 has been sentenced to life in prison.

Karlos Holmes, 47, was sentenced Friday after being found guilty of First Degree Murder following a two week long trial. Holmes will serve a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to reports, co-workers of Holmes’ fiancée, Tiffany Clairborne, found her dead inside her Charlotte home on November 25, 2013. Her body was found in a bathtub, along with a hairdryer tossed in the water.

The Medical Examiner later determined that Clairborne had not drowned, and her body showed no signs of electrocution. The ME did say she had signs of possible suffocation or strangulation. Police also found signs of a struggle in her bedroom.

Holmes was seen driving Clairborne’s car the same day her body was recovered, according to officials, and a broken nightstand that was missing from the bedroom was found in the trunk.

After a long investigation, detectives determined that Holmes had killed Clairborne and staged the crime scene. He was arrested and charged in 2015.
