LANDIS, N.C. — Investigators say a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Landis was intentionally set.
Landis Town officials say, firefighters were called around 4:26 a.m. to the Landis Apartments on Mount Moriah Church Road on Tuesday morning. When they arrived, heavy flames had engulfed the apartment building. Offcials say the fire quickly spread to an additional building on the property.
Several roads were closed due to the fire.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control and no injuries were sustained. We are told the apartments were still under construction and that the fire was an “incendiary fire.”
This is the second fire at the apartment complex this year. There was an arson fire reported in November.
The Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office, NC Office of State Fire Marshal, the NC State Bureau of Investigations, and the Landis Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
Anyone with information related to the fire is asked to contact Detective Hill at (704) 857-2129.
