Cruise ship illnesses hit 12-year high

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Illnesses on cruise ships have hit a 12-year high. New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show there were outbreaks on 16 different cruise ships in 2024, with the majority being Norovirus cases. More than two-thousand passengers and crew members were impacted. The CDC says Norovirus cases have been on the rise in the United States but they tend to be more commonly spread in crowded environments like cruise ships.
