LEXINGTON, SC — The bodies of five missing children from Lexington, South Carolina have been found in Alabama.  Investigators say their father confessed to killing them, and led police to their bodies.

That dad is Timothy Jones, Jr., who lives in Lexington and had custody of the five children.  They were as young as one and as old as eight.

Jones’ ex-wife reported the children missing last Wednesday.  Investigators say the father finally led them to their bodies Tuesday.  Reports revealed he buried his children in individual garbage bags in rural Alabama.  Investigators believe Jones murdered the children in Lexington, then dumped their bodies over the weekend.

Officers in Mississippi caught up with the dad Saturday during a traffic stop and arrested him after they spotted blood in his car.   Now, neighbors in Lexington are remembering the young victims.

“It’s horrible.  You’d never expect that someone’s parent would do something like that to them.  No matter what,” said Lexington resident Matthew Clark.  “I don’t know what the circumstances are between him and the wife, but you wouldn’t think it would come to that.”

Investigators will bring the children’s bodies back to Lexington for autopsies.  The medical examiner will then have a cause of death.  As for Jones, he’s in jail Tuesday night in Mississippi.
