LANCASTER, SC — Police have charged a 22-year-old volunteer firefighter after they say he used a county issued credit card to buy more than $40 worth of gas for a personal vehicle.
Jayson Freeman turned himself in Monday and was charged with Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent $2,000 or Less.
According to reports, a credit card issued by the County of Lancaster to the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department, where Freeman serves, was reported missing on June 8th. Detectives reviewed the card’s history and found that is was last used at a gas station on Highway 9 Bypass West on May 9th. According to reports, a PIN number issued to Freeman was used along with the card to purchase nearly 23 gallons of gas.
Freeman voluntarily interviewed with detectives on Friday, and turned himself in on charges Monday. He was released on a $2,000 person recognizance bond.
