Suspect Charged And SE Charlotte McDonald’s Reopened After Tuesday HazMat Scare

UPDATE: A southeast Charlotte McDonald’s has reopened after CMPD HazMat crews were called Tuesday to deal with a deadly drug.

Police were called in after a man was found unconscious in the restaurant’s bathroom. Officials say Kristopher Anderson was found with a white powder believed to be a mix of heroin and fentanyl.

Anderson was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking Heroin.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CSI and HazMat crews are investigating after an unknown substance was brought into a southeast Charlotte McDonald’s.

Employees say the substance was brought into the restaurant located on the corner of Sardis Road North and Monroe Road Tuesday afternoon. Once inside, employees say it got into an air vent.

HazMat crews were brought in as a precaution. Medic says no one was injured, and no transports were needed.

There has been no official word on what the substance is, but the store will remain closed while crews investigate.
