ROWAN COUNTY, NC — Officials say the body of a teen has been recovered after a reported drowning Wednesday afternoon.
EMS officials say they were called to a water rescue around 3pm on High Rock Lake. Officials say a teen was swimming with a group of people, went under, and never resurfaced.
Divers were called in around 3:30pm to help search for the victim. Officials say they located the teen’s body around 4pm.
Officials say this is the first drowning of the year at High Rock Lake in Rowan County.
