38-year-old man charged in northeast Charlotte homicide

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 38-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection to a deadly shooting in northeast Charlotte.

Detectives arrested Kristopher Anthony Sinclair on Friday. He was charged with murder and transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened around 10 a.m. Friday morning on Stitt Road near Eastway Drive. 

Police located 27-year-old Brianye Copeland shot in a car in the parking lot of the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center. Medic pronounced her dead at the scene.

The shooting remains under an active investigation.

Medic says a person was found shot inside a car on Stitt Road near Eastway Drive Friday morning.

CMPD says this is a homicide investigation and that the victim is a woman. No other details have been released.
