RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Funeral services have been held for former Triangle-area sportscaster Don Shea.
Shea spent 17 years as sports director at WTVD in Durham. After leaving the station, he began his 25-year association with the N.C. State athletic department, including his affiliation with the late Wolfpack basketball coach Jim Valvano.
Shea was a co-chairman of the Jim Valvano Kids Classic, which benefits the pediatric programs at Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center. He also handled business for JTV Enterprises.
Shea, who died Monday at age 77, also served on the board of the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
