Discussion:
An upper level disturbance will bring a few snow showers to the region today. Outside of the mountains, where an additional 1-2″ could fall, snowfall totals will be light with minimal impacts to roads. This disturbance will also bring a reinforcing shot of colder air with gusty winds today. Highs will not get out of the 30s, but with NW winds it will feel more like the teens and 20s through the day. Overnight wind chills will fall below zero in the mountains and into the single digits and teens across the rest of the area. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of the region due to the prolonged cold temperatures through Friday morning. The winds will quiet Friday, but temperatures will remain cold with highs only reaching the low to mid 40s — still a good 10-15 degrees below average. Temperatures will warm this weekend with highs back in the 50s under sunny skies. Next week will be much warmer with highs nearing 70 by Tuesday.
