Two Dead After Single-Car Crash In North Charlotte Over The Weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say speed was a factor in a wreck ย that killed two people in north Charlotte, Saturday night.

The accident happened ย at about 1:40 a.m. in the 3400 block of Hubbard Road near Haybridge Road.

The driver Larry Lee Lockhart Jr., 40, and front passenger Tabitha Denise Staton, 42, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Lockhart Jr. lost control of the Dodge Challenger he was driving and ran off the right side of the road ย into an embankment, striking a tree on the passenger side.

Detectives are determining whether alcohol was involved in the crash.
