KANNAPOLIS, NC — A 20-year-old Iredell County mom faces felony child abuse charges after an evaluation showed her baby was suffering from multiple bone fractures.
Kayla Horne is charged with one count of Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Physical Injury. According to deputies, the initial report was filed when family members took the 10-week-old to the hospital with a broken arm.
Medical staff then alerted deputies of possible abuse after discovering that the baby was suffering from a fractured arm, a healing fracture on the other arm, and three healing rib fractures.
Horne was arrested and charged following an investigation into the alleged abuse. She has been given a $125,000 secured bond.
