Man Accused Of Stealing Lottery Tickets Arrested After SWAT Standoff
LINCOLNTON, NC — A wanted Iredell County man was arrested Thursday afternoon after barricading himself inside a building near Crouse.
Officials say Marcus Holloway, 32, of Statesville, was wanted on multiple charges including stealing lottery tickets from two Denver convenience stores. Holloway was spotted this afternoon near Highway 150 West and Old Lincolnton Crouse Road, and tried to run from deputies and US Marshals.
Holloway crashed into two US Marshals vehicles and then ran off the road, crashing into the porch of a business. Officials say he and a woman then ran into the store.
The woman, Hannah Hawkins, 32, of Mooresville, surrendered, but Holloway barricaded himself in the basement. Officials say SWAT eventually gained access to the area and arrested Holloway.
Officials say they have been looking for Holloway since August 1st when he stole lottery tickets from Sam’s Mart and the Denver Mart. He escaped deputies on August 2nd, according to reports, after leading them on a chase down Highway 16 and abandoning his vehicle on Glen Crest Drive in Denver.
Holloway was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants from surrounding counties, officials say. Deputies say Hawkins is an absconder from probation and was also wanted in Iredell County.
