CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Police are investigating a deadly shooting in west Charlotte, the third homicide in less than 24 hours.
It happened around 2 a.m. Sunday morning in the 4800 block of Wilkinson Boulevard near Mulberry Church Road.
Police said the victim was shot after getting into an altercation with an armed security guard. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died.
This is the third homicide that happened overnight, all in west Charlotte.
The first happened around 11 a.m. on Saturday in the 6100 block of Old Mount Holly Road. Police located a woman believed to be dealing with a medical issue. She was transported to the hospital where medical personnel discovered a gunshot wound to her chest. She later died as a result of her injuries.
The other homicide happened around 9 p.m. in the 1200 block of Lucky Penny Street near Freedom Drive. When police arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
All three homicides are under an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak to a homicide detective directly.
