CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CoworkingCafe unveiled the best metros for women in tech, based on a series of metrics that include earnings, unemployment, and health insurance coverage rate, among other criteria. For a fair comparison, we also split the metros into three population brackets— large, mid-sized, and small.
Here are their findings regarding Charlotte:
- Charlotte snatched 4th place in the large metro ranking, establishing itself as a prime location for women in the tech sector.
- With 33% of tech workers being women, Charlotte brags the 3rd largest number of women working in this industry;
- The metro also offers loads of opportunities in tech, boasting 29.3 jobs out of 1,000 in this sector — this places Charlotte in 8th place for this specific metric;
- Earnings for female tech workers have seen a 20% increase from 2019 until 2023, reaching a median income of $85,430 per year;
- Charlotte also ensures job stability by offering 58% of female workers healthcare insurance.
Two other North Carolina gems made their way into the top — Raleigh snatched 5th place in the large metro section, while Durham took the crown in the mid-sized category.
