CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD says a security guard at an east Charlotte business was justified in a fatal shooting last week.
Detectives say they have classified the fatal shooting of Julian Harris, 32, as a justified homicide. Officials say the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office will review their investigation and make a final decision.
CMPD originally said the shooting stemmed from a dispute that happened inside a sweepstakes business on Albemarle Road just after midnight.
However, police are now saying Julian Harris and another suspect attempted to rob the business. During the robbery attempt, investigators say Harris was shot by an armed security guard.

Both suspects fled the scene but police found Harris dead in a wooded area behind the business. The second suspect has not been apprehended.
Police say the security guard was voluntarily transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed and released.
