National Girl Scout Week
CHARLOTTE, NC – Its National Girl Scout Week, which coincides with Women’s History Month. This week, the Girl Scouts of America celebrate 113 years of service. The organization was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912.
The first trop had 18 members in Savannah, Georgia. Today, the program now has over 3 million members, and is the largest girl-led development organization for girls in the world. Girl Scouts gives members the opportunities to explore their interests, as they decide what topics to learn about and what badges they want to earn.
Many of the topics are not something that they would normally be exposed to in other settings, such as school. For more information or how to get involved with the Girl Scouts Hornets Nest here in Charlotte, you can visit HNGirlScouts.org.
