CHARLOTTE, NC– A CMPD officer was arrested after prescription fraud Tuesday.
Authorities say Jennifer Wolfe, 37, of the Metro division was arrested after she was reportedly caught with fraudulent prescriptions obtained from a dental office.
Investigators say Wolfe was obtaining prescription opiates illegally and an anonymous complaint led to the investigation.
Wolfe was obtaining the prescription opiates for personal use and was not believed to be involved with selling the substances.
Authorities arrested Wolfe Tuesday morning and charged her with five counts of obtaining schedule II controlled substances and was taken to Mecklenburg County Jail.
Statement from Chief Kerr Putney:
“I am disappointed and saddened that one of our officers is being charged with this serious offense. The men and women of this organization are regular people, who face the same challenges as the rest of our community. Unfortunately, we are not immune from the growing opioid epidemic. We represent the law and must hold ourselves accountable when we violate it.”
