UPDATE: The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who assaulted a postal worker on Thursday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say a mail carrier was shot in southwest Charlotte. The shooting happened Thursday afternoon around 1:30 on Archer Avenue near Clanton Road.
The postal worker was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police say the victim appears to have been in an altercation with the suspects when the shooting occurred.
Police are investigating, but have not made any arrests at this time.
