Marijuana, Guns Found Inside Home Where UNCC Student Shot

Police say drugs and guns were found inside the home of a UNCC student who was shot during a robbery Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say they determined the victim prearranged a meeting for a drug transaction with the two suspects.  During the meeting, police say the suspects robbed the victim of a handgun and cash.  One of the suspects then shot the victim before fleeing the scene.

The victim has serious injuries.  Police later executed a search warrant at the home and located 4.5 pounds of marijuana, three rifles, two shotguns and two handguns that were later determined to be BB pistols.

One of the occupants of the resident, Blaise Bennett, has been charged with two felony counts of possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.  More charges are anticipated.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says one person was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting in the University area.

The shooting occurred during a robbery around 12:40 p.m., in the 1300 block of Bonnie Lane. Officials say the victim is a student at UNC Charlotte. The suspects took off in a grey Nissan, according to reports, heading away from campus.

Campus officials say there is no threat at this time on campus. No arrests have been made and the case is under investigation.
