Parking Prices Skyrocket Ahead of Panthers’ First Home Game

CHARLOTTE, NC — The city is getting ready to host the first Panthers home game this Sunday. But one thing ticket holders will not be too excited about are the skyrocketing parking prices.

We talked about this last year as the Charlotte Observer building was under construction, taking away a huge tailgating spot for fans. Many other lots also are under construction, moving tailgaters and game-goers further away and costing them more.

While there are fewer tailgating lots and they’re further away from the stadium, there are still plenty of parking spots, but it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. According to sites like Park Whiz and Parking Panda for Sunday’s game, to get parking for less than $20, you’ll be walking a half mile or more to the stadium.

To get within a half mile, prices range from $30 to even $80. Those prices are for a parking spot, not a tailgating lot. One cheaper option would be to take the Lynx light rail into uptown. There’s a stop within a half mile of the stadium.
