The Panthers Are 2-0. What’s the Biggest Issue They’re Facing?
The Carolina Panthers are 2-0 after Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills. Β The defense looked solid; Julius Peppers says its the best defense he’s ever played for. But there are legit concerns about the offense, which only managed to post 9 points Sunday. Β Quarterback Cam Newton looked less rusty, but far from the player named league MVP two seasons ago. Β Newton had no touchdowns and overthrew rookie Christian McCaffrey in what should have been a 4th quarter touchdown. Β To make matters worse, Newton is temporarily losing one of his best targets for a substantial chunk of the season. Β Tight end Greg Olsen is recovering from a successful surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot. Β Olsen is expected to be back this season but could miss 6 to 8 weeks.
