Original Story:

CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman fought off an attacker who tried to sexually assault her in her front yard Tuesday morning, police say.

CMPD was still searching for a young man with blonde hair Tuesday evening in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.

Officers used dogs and the CMPD chopper to search for him all day.

The woman told officers she was watering her flowers around 7:45 Tuesday morning when he came up, asked her if she’d seen his lost dog and suddenly attacked.

Neighbors walking around the Midwood Park tell WCCB Charlotte it’s a shame people cannot feel comfortable in their own yards.

“That certainly is scary because it’s very possible that anybody could be out in their yard alone,” said Antina Wright.

“Part of what makes this neighborhood so attractive is we can all be outside talking to neighbors,” said Jenny Ahlin. “It’s one of the things that draws you to this neighborhood, and when you hear about things like this, it makes you a little more worried and careful.”

Police say the woman got a good description of the guy. but they will only tell us he’s younger with blonde hair.
